Research Design
Turn a research question into a study that can actually be executed.
What it is
Research Design is the foundation of a defensible study. We work from the research question to determine what needs to be measured or explored, who needs to be included, how participants or data sources should be reached, what the study design can support, and how the evidence will ultimately be analysed.
This includes developing the study protocol, defining the sampling approach, selecting appropriate methods, and developing or reviewing the instruments used to collect data. Questionnaires, interview guides, observation tools, assessment instruments, and other data collection tools are examined for clarity, relevance, measurement quality, structure, and suitability for the planned analysis.
The practical conditions of the research are considered at the design stage. Population, setting, access, resources, field procedures, ethics, data quality, and analytical requirements all have to work together. A study should not discover these constraints after data collection has already begun.
When you need it
You need Research Design when you have a research question but need a defensible method for answering it. You may already have a protocol that needs strengthening, a study concept that needs to become executable, or data collection instruments that need to be reviewed before they are deployed.
You may also need it when a study has been designed without sufficient attention to sampling, measurement, field realities, ethics, or the analysis that will eventually be required.
What AcadStat delivers
AcadStat can develop or strengthen the complete research design, including the research questions, objectives, study design, sampling approach, methodology, data collection procedures, and analysis framework.
We can develop new questionnaires and research instruments, or review existing ones to determine whether they adequately measure the intended constructs and generate data that can support the proposed analysis.
We also prepare the relevant study documentation and ethics materials around the actual research design. The aim is not simply to produce a methodology document. The aim is to create a study that can be implemented, monitored, analysed, and defended.
